How often do you guys want updates?
The simple fact is that I probably play with the game every day for a few hours making modifications and I'm not going to do daily updates.
Second thought is I am shooting for a version 1 to be up around christmas. But do you guys still want to see an updated version every so often and how often? If I do weekly well it will be a pain in the ass and modifications will be minor. Monthly fixes this problem but well its a month in between.
Also I would like opensource but like I said I make modifications every day and constantly uploading modifications to keep the source open up to date will drive me insane.
Ideas are more then welcome.

I don't care much about whether it's open source or not, but as for updates, I cast my vote for whenever you feel something important is changed. If you want a more structured update schedule though, I have no idea.

I would suggest every 2-3 weeks. More often in periods when you change a lot of stuff.
The reason is simple, this way the changes can be tested, bugs can be found more quickly, and also if there's a bug, it's easier to find when it was introduced

Also I would like opensource but like I said I make modifications every day and constantly uploading modifications to keep the source open up to date will drive me insane. What you can do is shift as much as possible out to external actionscript and then store them and the fla in a sibversion or github server. There's quite a few free ones for open source. Then, you at least don't need to keep updating the whole thing when you've only debugged the handler for one screen. I know I'd love to have a look at the code, and possibly have a bit fiddle with it, assuming I ever get any spare time ever again... As for updates: if you're comfortable with monthly, then go for monthly. Or whenever you've got something substantial working. would do.

Okay trying my best to figure out subversion. I did create a google code account, but until I figure out subversion a bit more I am going to hold off on uploading everything to it. If anyone out there is an expert in subversion and setting it up please post or send me a message. code.google.com/p/otherworldtoday/Daisy

Okay current code is up on google. I made a total mess of the uploading though. Will try to fix later on. Thanks to Zincat who showed me the right program to use.

Thinking about the comment on the blog about moving to a two monthly release. I'd say, "go for it".
The big problem with any development like this is that as the game gets more complex, the so does the time needed to add and test new features. More so for the time to find and fix bugs.
Besides, the game is playable now, even if not yet feature complete, so there's not the same urgency driving the release schedule.

I think this month would have been a good release just on the quest turn in and the items. But I am all for adding one or 2 new things and making sure they work then moving on. And all we basically need is some cleaning, quests, and text to get a version one out there.
from the player side its better to get a new version every so often to show how what you are posting is actually effecting the game. It's why I lost interest in slave maker the last big update was like 6 months in the making.
