One thing that could work easily is to take the class icons, perhaps with the background color of your gender to represent the player when planning actions rather than the empty, white box

Daisy are you dead set on setting the goals during character creation. I was thinking you could use the area they are currently in for more previous occupations. Stuff like Hunter, Farmhand, Scribe, and Whore.
Was also thinking that the previous occupation gives you some sort of starting bonus depending on what it was. Squire for instance gives you a basic set of weapon, shield and armor, as well as the ability to train slaves in combat. Where as the Messenger has all areas unlocked already without having to go thru the normal quests to unlock them.

hmm... I wouldn't be opposed to more goals and starting occupations, but want to write stories for the current ones before adding more. Right now they don't have any real signifigance and I want to change that.

So Daisy, are you still interested in revamping the home screen? I've got a few mock-ups in case you want to revamp them for the next release.

I'm still more interested in keeping the home screen as simple as possible. But your more then welcome to show any home screen mock ups and let everyone have a look if we find one that everyone likes I woudn't be opposed to changing. But will not be in november... almost nothing but items in november.

Have a look at the new mockup screens I made: I decide to cut the box that shown gold and day into that what looks like a taskbar. Adding circle button; from left to right: time and day, amount of golds, overall reps (blue ribbon), player screen button (circle button), quest log, load, save, and option. Also, notice that each girls room now have box background, to make it easier to read the text for stats percentage that sometimes obscured by the background. Notice that the taskbar will stay at the templestreet screen. Originally, my vision is to have this taskbar always visible in every screen so you can quickly look at the time and day and amount of golds, you can also quickly access player screen and quest log, and also can save/load easily. Let me know what do you guys think of these mockups..

Nice work. Makes good use of the screen without obscuring too much of the backdrop

the task bar is nice try dropping the rep stat tho it seems kinda out of place.
I like the box idea for each room, just not liking the placement you chose. Try setting it up like it is now (slaves all left and masters across the top) even if you have to shrink the boxes a bit each.

Honestly I'm still not sure what's the best arrangement for the box.. we can always eliminate the box though and just use the original placement with the addition of taskbar. So, what do you think of this one: Anyway, here's the .psd files and assets: www.mediafire.com/?y4580fob86f01zq

I liked the "L" shaped layout, but I'd make a couple of changes. For one thing, I'd lose the brass frames. They look cool, but they take up too much space (pixels are precious!) and they distract the eye from more important things. The other thing I'd do (and this is more work for Daisy) is I'd hide rooms that didn't exist or were otherwise unusable. So you'd get something like this: I'm using a radial grad for the icon background, so it stays transparent, but still has a bit of a hard edge. I'm also assuming there's a way to name individual rooms (which I'd quite like). Anyway, as more rooms get created, they get de-cloaked and appear on the screen: OK, so I'm too lazy to clip a different thumbnail for each room. You get the idea, I'm sure PS: redcape - thanks for posting the psd file

i like the black backgrounds... and the idea of hiding unused rooms would make it easier for new players confusion...

@doc Wow, I really Love that black background.. but it probably need to be more transparent maybe around 40% - 45%, and need to be wider especially the room one since we need to include more icons (love and health) and its percentage. Looks like I'm getting too attached with the brass frames that I overlook any other alternatives ;D
@daisy
You mean the guild hall screen?
