I thought I'd start a thread for matters arising from Daisy's blog - or at least those that don't have a relevant thread already. Regarding " Lots of interesting stuff" Nice screen design. It pretty much blots out the background image, but the house itself is pleasing to the eye, so that's not really a problem. It's not going to be easy to tell what sort of house you have though. Maybe add a field to the screen clear. Do I gather that we're going to be able to disable loli content? I do hope so.

Yes, I am already setting it up.
I'm of really two minds about it and part of me whats to just make it an option as well where you can do the house design or the old style screen. (Though of course thats a pain more work.) If we do use the new house design I would want different style of houses to be able to distinguish them one from the other. Like wood, brick, marble, etc. Which would depend a lot on the artists out there. Plus They would have to be able to be in segments so that when you add a room a room appears. Over all its a lot of work but it does have some nice effects. Sort of reminds me of the "Maid Story" which I won't be shy in saying I stole a lot from.
Anyways sleep is calling

I'm wondering how you're going to classify "loli" if you are planning on having the option to disable it. I think it is a very good idea, btw.
Loli is one of those terms/words that is different depending on who says it. Is it about having underdeveloped breasts, and therefore flat-chested 30 year old girls are loli while an eight year old with b-cups isn't? I'm of the opinion that only age determines that a girl is loli.
I disagree with the idea that only large breasts are acceptable, as there are pretty women with boobies of every size.

tweaker69 -----> flat-chested 30 year old girls are loli while an eight year old with b-cups isn't? I'm of the opinion that only age determines that a girl is loli I agree with what tweaker69 said you can have a developed girl at a young age so imo like tweaker said only real age can determine a Loli otherwise it becomes hard to identify. If you only go on cup size it doesnt give a true imo defination of a Loli as age imo must also be a factor as well.

wans't there some sort of grow up item/mechanic in the works so that players can cause there loli girls to become adults? I kinda built nanoha with this in mind as I also have a full set of adult pics of her as well.

That is a great question... Doable.
Will need some aging and anti-aging items.

If I steal the rule from anothergame ... whoremaster (Docclox knows). In this game one way of ending loli status is geting girl had child, or there are items that make them look adult and so far there is no loli older then 20years

Daisy, did you ever find a solution to the .png problem?
I think what's happening is that:
1) someone at adobe forgot to add an equality operator for png images 2) the pngs get converted to strings for comparison 3) the tostring() func turns them all into strings saying "movieclip" or "PNG Image" 4) the string is the same for all images 5) comparison always evals true
What you might try is to use the "===" operator. Three equals signs means "strict equality", and evaluates true if both operands are the same instance. Which for movieclips or library images will probably work as you would wish.

Actually yes you have to FLATTEN the .png when you add them. The .toString() doesn't work at all, its the main one I use for comparison. Lately because of the instancing I have been playing with the "is" statement but haven't tried it on .pngs. Anyways, the key is when dropping a .png on the stage you get a pop up that says something or other, and you have to flatten it. Hmm let me get a screen shot. Daisy

Odd. I'm used to seeing "flatten" in the contenxt of GIFs or svg images where there are several layers. The PNG format, on the other hand, doesn't support layers.
That said, flash doesn't seem to be seeing a PNG; it's seeing a Fireworks document, whatever that is...

Fireworks is the standard image editor I use. Which does do layers for .pngs... I'm pretty sure. Sort of like photo shop but it makes sense while photo shop drives me nuts after about 20s. But I could be wrong about all of this.

It seems it's a non-standard adobe extension. Normal PNGs don't have the problem. But fireworks uses these mutilated PNGs as its native format, so any PNG is assumed to be a broken by flash. What fun, hey?

I like the idea of a house design, but for some reason I don't like the example given by Last Scout. Maybe it's just me, but a flat image just doesn't look good to me. If you dare, here is my quick, five minute horribly disfigured attempt at trying to show my idea. It tries to show how the home screen could be isometric, and a bit more visually pleasing. However, my art skills are about the same as a 6 year old, so be warned and know this is a very basic mock up. Attachments:

While krezar design looks good, I think it's too complicated and a bit impractical if you want to add some stuff or modification for the house. I prefer Last Scout flat design because it is more practical and I like the idea where you could modify the house, changing house wallpaper/design, adding fence, and the simple flat design make it easy to design stuff for the house too.

Yeah, I didn't really get around to painting in what should be expansions and such.
My idea is to have something more modular in design, to help show your expansions more. You start with a shitty little farm house on the green-side of town, with 3 rooms; your room, your assistants room, and a spare empty room for a slave. The picture shown would be a basic isometric view of this, with a few buttons for this and that. As you expand / upgrade you house, it would show through the addition of rooms on the isometric grid. A good example would be a tower defense game, or a rts game like starcraft. Obviously not that detailed, but that is the general idea I had.
Oh, and thanks for showing my idea on your blog, Daisy_Strike. I hope someone with art skills can make it look better.
