This is going to sound stupid lol, but I've downloaded the files and now I don't know how to play the game. It has .swf files and my computer says it can't use them. Do I need to download something else or am I just stupid and clicking the wrong thing?

It has .swf files and my computer says it can't use them. The simplest route is to open the otherworld.swf file in your preferred web browser, and run the game using the browser's Flash plug-in. (If you don't know what I'm talking about. Don't worry. The browser should take care of it, more or less, automatically.) If that runs a little too slowly, you can try some of the suggestions, here: otherworldtoday.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=104***** On a side note, since we seem to be gearing up for another release, I'd like to take this opportunity to once again suggest including an EXE, like CMacleod does with his SlaveMaker releases. It should only require ticking another checkbox in the "File"->"Publish Settings..." menu, and publishing the game ("File"->"Publish") in preparation for it's release, and it would solve a lot of these problems.
