As for cheat engine, I found searching binary works best. Naturally I've only been able to find numeric values. Having the source though, I've been able to reproduce or deny bug's I've found in my testing.
For cheat engine the number you look at for money is 8 * money + 6
This at least allows me to reproduce certain bugs in the first few days rather than requiring months of game time to make purchases. (If you didn't want the value posted I apologize and would gladly delete it).
Doing a bad thing by bumping an old topic. Though will say you can use a .sol editing program like Minerva. Think it automatically points to the flash save folder. The values aren't named perfectly but gotta dig around and match things.
EDIT: Ok, maybe it doesn't automatically point every time. c:\users\<username>\appdata\roaming\macromedia\flash player Is where it should go on Windows 7. Looks like there are some values that aren't implemented as of yet. So backup...incase.
